High
Peak Cottage High Peak Junction Derbyshire
Introduction
‘High
Peak Cottage' was built in the mid 19 th Century as accommodation for workers
on the Cromford and High Peak Railway and the adjacent Canal. Originally known
as Fivehouses, they have been converted into two, our own home and a two bedroomed
cottage, let to holidaymakers for the last 20 years.
Access
is via an unsealed track to a gateway. From the gate, 1.30m wide and a step
12cm high, there is a gently sloping path made of gritstone slabs to the entrance.
There are three low steps on this path. The first is 1.37m wide and 8cm high,
the second 1.37m wide 9cm high and the third is 85cm wide and 8cm high which
leads into the kitchen door 83cm wide.
